Description Hide Show Cut in late 1973 with Jack Bruce slipping into the lineup for the gnarly title jam, Frank Zappas Apostrophe (‘) nails the balance between sly satire and serious chops. The Yellow Snow suite lopes from Dont Eat the Yellow Snow with a sly little bass slide before the first vocal bite, silly and razor tight at once. On Apostrophe’ the trio chew through a loose instrumental groove, Bruces bass needling Jim Gordons pocket while Zappa fires off concise, singing lines. Uncle Remus glints with George Dukes piano, a rare moment of gospel tinged sweetness amid the snark. This LP pressing opens up the space and the low end sits deeper.
